Faarup: main feasibility studies will be ready in June

Before the Assembly's Budget Committee, Secretary Henry Faarup said the core engineering and feasibility studies, led by AECOM, Renfe, KPMG, and WSP, would be ready in June, setting the route, estimated cost, and operating model. He estimated construction at seven to eight years.
Background & context
Secretary Faarup's testimony is the clearest official commitment on record to a June 2026 deadline for the studies that matter most. Naming all four firms and their outputs, route, cost, and operating model , in front of legislators raises the political cost of missing the date quietly.
Update (September 2026): on 1 July Mulino said the study found the project viable, pending independent validation, and in September it was reported under MEF review, but the study itself has still not been published. The seven-to-eight-year build estimate Faarup gave is itself conditional on those same studies confirming the route is buildable at a defensible cost.
